Yay! My site is back online!

But things are not looking so good for the SFBI... Bureaucratic nonsense: the state of California has ordered them to close down while their application to renew their operating licence is being processed. Apparently, this can take at least 2 or 3 months and possibly more.

Read more on Susan's blog, Wild Yeast | Help Save SFBI!

Please sign the petition at change.org to allow the San Francisco Baking Institute to remain open!

pffuieee!

My real blog on etherwork.net is offline AGAIN. I have no idea exactly how long it has been offline, nor when it will return.

As always, the way to know whether etherwork is back online is to refresh this page. If you see a leafy image at the top of the page, then you can access the real blog.

why my real blog is sloooooow loading...

Alas, my real blog appears to be very slooooooooow loading. If it loads at all. :-/

This is what I'm seeing from time to time today:

The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.
Or the pages actually load but without all the images or formatting.

Or the page loads with a message saying that there is an internal server error. Pffoooey!

I have no idea when things will return to normal. Here is an excerpt from the updates page:

Updates - Sunday, November 18th, 2012 11:19:51am

November 16, 10:47 PM - Last (And Largest) Account!
All accounts are moved and made active. DNS seems to be behaving itself.

The last account is still transferring. It is massive. Everyone else is in place.

Thank you for your patience. It has been a long recovery and the plans to avoid this in future are in place - AND I got my spare drives in already! 1 day shipping after waiting over a year to find a supply.
November 14, 2:57 PM - Moving Page
DO NOT PANIC!

Your data is safe.

This is a way to keep your data safe. The moving page will appear until we get your site up on the new system.

Please bear with us...
November 14, 12:21 PM - Finally, A Cause
So we finally have a cause - there is a bad sector of disk.

We are getting data off onto other disks and moving accounts onto other servers.

This is a flow blown emergency migration.

WHAT has blogger done to the interface?!

It's so annoying to have to figure out how to fix things because of their insistence at using WYSIWYG.

Brrrrrr. At least the edit button has reappeared....

edit: ooooh! Now I see what they've done. I suppose it is an improvement. Now it's either WYSIWYG or HTML instead of the slightly bizarre combo they had before.

edit 30 April 2012: Wow!! Way to make things really really hard to find, Blogger! It took me ages to discover where the dashboard is now.

  1. I loathe having to scroll down on the page to find "my blogs".
  2. I loathe even more how very difficult it is to find the link to see existing posts. Why have text links been replaced with stupid icons?
