Connection problems again at etherwork.net

Rats. For the past few days, there have been connection problems with my website host again; blog from OUR kitchen may be intermittantly available. Things should be back to normal soon.

Heh... it's giving me a chance to actually FINISH this year's advent calendar. Do take a look if you get a moment. (Don't even think about trying to peek ahead!)

blank page syndrome at etherwork.net

The blank page syndrome is rearing its ugly head at etherwork.net. I have no idea why this occurs from time to time and hadn't seen it for months until today.

If you do get a blank page when you go to the real blog from OUR kitchen, just hit refresh/reload the page.

received a reply from blogger support...

As I mentioned earlier, I sent in a report on some blogger gambling sites (read more here: flagging objectionable content on blogger) Here is the reply I received:

From: "Blogger Help"
Date: Fri, 15 Sep 2006 19:51:00 -0000

Hello,

Thanks for writing us regarding this possible Terms of Service violation.
We will examine it soon and take action as necessary.

Sincerely,
The Blogger Team

Let's hope that the Blogger Team decides that the necessary action is to delete the offenders' sites.

flagging objectionable content on blogger

I'm getting pretty sick of spam emails and just sent the following to blogger support. (It took me a while to find where to do this but I believe I found the correct spot at http://help.blogger.com/?page=help&skiplogin=yes)

I am a member of a support team for my websitehost. I recently received an alleged "help request" that turned out not to be a request for help but instead was merely links to the following blogger sites:

http://online-gambling-b.blogspot.com/
http://online-poker-game.blogspot.com/

Please note that there is an almost immediate javascript redirect to non blogger cookie loading site with several links to gambling. Disabling javascript shows that there is only one post per site and no "flag as objectionable content" links on either of the sites.

With javascript enabled, it is impossible to flag the sites as "objectionable" because of the automatic redirects to online casino sites. I don't know absolutely that these sites are in violation of the blogger.com TOS, but I believe that online gambling is illegal in the USA.

blogger.com TOS writes:
Member further agrees not to transmit any material that encourages conduct that could constitute a criminal offense
But even if it is not against the blogger TOS, it certainly seems to go directly against what blogger is about.

I'm hoping that this will be sufficient reason for blogger to remove all priviledges for

online-gambling-b
online-poker-game

Thank you.

Sincerely yours,
XXXX XXXXXXXXXX

I got an automatic reply confirming receipt of my message. I await an actual response....

(I have to say that it was rather difficult to track down the blogger.com TOS! There is no link to the TOS in the dashboard area, nor on the main Help page. It wasn't until I searched "objectionable content" that I finally found the link. Perhaps this is one reason why it is so simple for some people to violate the TOS.

I have no idea if anyone reads this blog. My guess is no. But at the risk of getting inundated with spamming nonsense, I'll enable comments for this post anyway just in case.)
