Wordless Not-Wednesday: deceptive packaging
summary: deceptive packaging on gluten-free CocoMira Pistachio Crunch; these were delicious; but, is such a large box really necessary? We tried to stack the entire contents of the box in the same way as the photograph on the box.... Note that our stack is decidedly shorter.

Which Atta Should We Buy? What a dilemma!
summary: reasonably priced atta WITHOUT additives in Toronto; comparison of various brands; chapatis made with atta are fabulous; is there really a need for Canada to be importing wheat?
[rant-alert]Yup. It's about flour again. This time the excessive ranting and raving is about how ludicrous it is to be buying "no additives" Atta (as good as it is) that comes all the way from India, when wheat is a major product of Canada.[/rant-alert]

Triple Shriek

I foolishly believed that I'd be in the clear with my real blog at etherwork.net. But no. Of course not. It has had to be taken offline again because of ongoing malicious hammering by bots.

Over the past several weeks, I have been removing broken links, locking things down (as best I could) and waiting for the bots to grow tired and finally realize that there really is no point to their hammering. It's not as if their mischief if affecting very many people. Surely, their goal is to bother a significantly larger group than me and my little circle of friends!

In the meantime, other aspects of my foolishness continue:

Double Shriek!!!!

I was all set to report that everything is almost back to normal with my real blog. Over the past couple of days after the site was restored, I spent a fair amount of time locking things down there, to stop the malicious bots from accessing areas on the site that are none of their beeswax.

And at some point tonight, the bots got really mad and... you guessed it... I'm once again locked out of my site.

It looks like I'm going to have to resort to using this blog to post about the BBB's October 2014 bread that I made today and was planning to post about tomorrow.

edit 16 October: My real blog is back online again (for now). I have a bad feeling that it will be on and off until the malicious bots get tired of their stupid game.

08 October 2014

I don't know WHAT has happened. But my real site at etherwork.net has been inexplicably erased. I'm spitting mad and will try to find out what happened and hope that everything will return to normal soon.

edit 8 October 2014: Well, isn't this just swell.... It turns out that the reason for my site being erased was because of a "brute force attack" by malicious bots. My webhost reconnected the site earlier today for a few minutes. During that time, I tried to install a plugin to block those bots but the server was getting hammered so severely that my webhost had to suspend my account !!! That's right. Suspend it.

All this because of jackasses who have nothing better to do than try to infiltrate any site at all.
